After nearly 20 years working as a television and film actress, Taraji P. Henson is letting her supporters know that God will get His glory for her first Golden Globe win.
When the 45-year-old received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a TV drama Sunday, fans of the "Empire" star who portrays "Cookie Lyons" recognized God in the moment.
"Congratulation @TherealTaraji. Well done. And well deserved. #GodwillgetHisglory," one supporter tweeted to Henson.
Henson agreed with the spiritual sentiments in front of over 3 million followers, "Yaaaaas. Always!"
In her hit television show, Henson is know as the abrasive ex-convict music executive Cookie Lyons, but the actress has taken on a range of roles throughout her near 20-year career. Her role as "Queenie" in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" even earned her a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2009.
Henson previously spoke to The Christian Post about how her Christian faith has impacted her career.
"It has definitely kept me sane and continues to keep me sane because I know how I got here. I moved to California with $700 in my pocket with my son and a dream and faith," Henson told CP. "And every time a door would close I would pray to God, like 'I know you've got a plan for me because I'm still here.' There's a plan for me and I believe in that."
