Georgia Church Closes Two Weeks After Reopening As Families Come Down With Coronavirus 

A Georgia church that reopened after shutting down due to the coronavirus has axed in-person services again in what they describe as “an effort of extreme caution” as several of their families have become infected by the deadly disease.
 
Catoosa Baptist Tabernacle, an independent Baptist church led by Pastor Justin Gazaway in Ringgold, Georgia, restarted in-person services on April 26. Church representative Joan Lewis told The Christian Post on Monday, however, that they decided to suspend “in-person worship services for the foreseeable future” on May 11 after learning several families had contracted the virus.

Stroke Survivor Katherine Wolf on Finding God in Suffering 

“In this life, we all want to get on board with the new life, blessings, and abundance of knowing Christ, but we’re certainly not willing to go through crucifixion and sacrifice to find communion with Jesus,” speaker and author Jay Wolf told The Christian Post. “When we are so averse to discomfort, we miss out on something so vital to understanding who Jesus is. We’re missing out on communion with Him and with humanity. We’re missing out on a deep level of compassion if we’ve never experienced hardship.”
 
For Jay and his wife, Katherine, the belief that suffering is not the end of the story has sustained them through unthinkable tragedy.

Church Sues Zoom Over Shocking Porn Interruption During Bible Study 

A church in California has filed a class action complaint against Zoom Video Communications for failing to protect their Bible study from being “zoom-bombed” with pornography.
 
A “known offender” hijacked the video conference by disabling other accounts and then posted disturbing pornographic videos during a May 6 Bible study.

A Detroit Pastor & Son Die Within Days of Each Other After Contracting COVID-19  

​A Detroit pastor and his son have died of COVID-19 within just days of each other.
 
Rev. Nathaniel Slappey Sr. died on April 30 after serving in ministry for 50 years. His oldest son, Nathaniel Slappey Jr., died a few days later on May 2. The Detroit Free Press reports that both were dealing with complications from COVID-19 at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield.

Newlyweds Justin and Hailey Bieber launched a new web series on Facebook Watch titled “The Biebers” where fans can follow their lives during the quarantine. In the latest episode, the couple shared how their faith in Jesus and having a virtual church community is keeping them anchored. 
 
In each episode the couple film themselves doing things together while asking each other questions. Episode 4 was released this week shows the couple playing Jenga. While trying not to lose the game, Justin asked Hailey what has been keeping her anchored during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Poll: Few Americans View Life's Purpose As 'Knowing, Loving And Serving God' 

New data from a multi-part survey exploring how Americans view the world shows that while the majority believe life has a specific purpose, less than one-fifth say life’s purpose is knowing and loving God.

Singer Charles Billingsley Details Battle With Covid-19 & How It Affected His Faith 

Acclaimed singer/songwriter and pastor Charles Billingsley never expected that leading up to the release of his new album, I Was Made for This, he’d be in the battle for his life against COVID-19.
 
Billingsley, who is a teaching pastor at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus in early April and spent about three weeks battling the virus, which included a brief hospitalization. Simultaneously, his new album — his first studio project in two years — was released on April 10.

Gospel Star Troy Sneed Dies at 52 Due to COVID-19 

Grammy nominated gospel singer Troy Sneed passed away early on Monday morning (April 27) due to coronavirus complications. He was 52 years old.
 
The Perry, Florida, native launched his music career at Florida A&M University, where he studied education with a minor in music. He soon joined the school's choir, and after he graduated, Savoy Records executive Rev. Milton Biggham offered him a position as the Georgia Mass Choir's Assistant Minister of Music. During his time there, he traveled with the choir, arranged music on their albums and appeared with them in the Denzel Washington and Whitney Houston 1996 film, The Preacher's Wife.
