Despite false imprisonment and lawsuits, Daylan McLee put his life on the line for a police officer this weekend.
In Uniontown, Pennsylvania, about 45 miles south of Pittsburgh, a police cruiser was involved in a car crash so loud McLee later recalled he thought it was a small earthquake. When he heard it was a crash, the 31-year-old Black man raced out of his house and pulled Officer Jay Hanley from the car as flames engulfed the cruiser.

Over the last few weeks in the United States, the black community and its allies have spoken out against the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery. Powerful and at times contentious protests have taken place in every state and even other nations to call attention to racial inequality and police violence. Phil Vischer, the creator of the popular Christian animated series VeggieTales and the voice of the show’s character Bob the Tomato, offered a historical take on systemic racism in America in a new video.
Amid civil unrest over racial injustices in America, Vischer released a 17-minute video titled “Race in America” on his personal YouTube channel and on the Holy Post website in which he breaks down systemic racism.

Cream of Wheat just became the latest major food brand to announce a review of its controversial mascot following the global uproar over the George Floyd tragedy, which has compelled corporations to reflect on their roles in perpetuating racism.
Aunt Jemima was the first food brand Wednesday to announce it is changing its logo, which for decades has been widely criticized as a racist caricature of a black maid stemming from slavery. Hours later, Uncle Ben's and Mrs. Butterworth's followed suit.

In 2019, more women in the UK sought after abortions than in any previous year, according to a new report released by the UK Department of Health and Social Care.
The 20-page report showed statistics for England and Wales last year. Over 207,000 abortions were performed on women last year, which is the largest number recorded since the 1967 Abortion Act was passed, according to the Christian Post.

Two dozen evangelical scholars have released a joint statement condemning racism as “contrary to the evangelical Gospel” and acknowledging the realities of racism that existed throughout evangelical history.
The new “Evangelical Statement on the Gospel and Racism" was released Monday as nationwide protests continue in the wake of the killing of African American George Floyd in Minnesota and just days after the controversial killing of Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta, Georgia, by a police officer.

Phil Vischer, creator of the popular Christian animation "VeggieTales," said he decided to use his platform to address issues of racial injustice by penning a blog where he said that being white gave him access to opportunities that others did not have.
With over 65 million "VeggieTales" videos to date, Vischer said he's had a successful life despite being raised in a single-parent home and surviving on baloney sandwiches.

Faithlife says there’s been an increase this spring in sermons published on its online platform that discuss injustice, eschatology, suffering, sickness and other topics related to the coronavirus pandemic as well as the recent protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
